Gatsrivier is the outdoor enthusiast’s absolute dream. With vast valleys, mountains and plains to explore by foot, mountain bike or 4 x 4 and with views that will take your breath away, this is the place to be. Imagine magical nights under clear, starlit skies, flickering campfires to soak up all that sorrow and stress, sunsets and sunrises to warm the heart and fun ‘kuiers’ in our rustic ‘Tin Lizzy’ lapa/pub or around our three splash pools in summer time. Daytime adventures can also include absailing at the Waterfall spot, visiting some of the many ruins on the farm or hunting for Karoo treasures, such as historical artefacts, fossils, pebbles and bones.
Our rich birdlife makes for a birdwatcher’s paradise, while plant lovers are in for a similar surprise with thousands of rare species to discover and enjoy. On the wildlife front, you also won’t be disappointed. Kudu, baboon, zebra, swart wildebeest, eland, duiker, steenbok, springbok, rabbit, mongoose, dassie and various other species, roam freely on the farm, which often make for interesting experiences, right where you stay. And if you plan well, you might even catch our flower season, which really should be one for the bucket list.
